County budget holding steady

During the July 9 County Commission meeting, the commission:
-Held a public hearing concerning the Alabaster YMCA expansion.
According to County Manager Alex Dudchock, the county and the Shelby County Board of Education partnered with the DAY Program to add a second floor to the new Alabaster YMCA building for the DAY Program, which is a long-term alternative program for at-risk Shelby County students who need academic or behavioral counseling.
-Welcomed Alabama Crown Distributing Company to the Shelby West Corporate Park.
Vice President of Operations Julian Vann said the $16 million capital investment will provide a “hub and spoke operation.”
-Welcomed Hibbett Sports, which is building a 360,000-square-foot distribution center in Shelby West Corporate Park. James Dedes, executive director of the Shelby County Economic and Industrial Development Authority, said the center would bring about 170 jobs to the area.
