Spain Park in third place in tournament

The Spain Park High School girls’ golf team currently sits in third place in team standings after collectively posting a 39-over par 255 on the opening day of the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A state tournament May 14 at the Robert Trent Jones Grand National course in Auburn.
The Jaguars trail both Mountain Brook and Auburn, which are tied for first place in team standings, by nine strokes.
Morgan Natale led Spain Park with a 7-over par 79 in the opening round, which placed her in a two-way tie for fifth in individual standings.
Caroline Gurley of Spain Park fired a 9-over par 81 in the opening round, which placed her seventh in individual standings. Jenna Pickering of Spain Park shot a 23-over par 95 in the first round and currently sits in a two-way tie for 22nd overall in individual standings.
Haven Eddy of Spain Park rounded out the group of Jaguars with her 33-over par 105 in the opening round, which placed her 27th in individual standings.
Grayson Gladden of Pelham, who qualified for the Class 6A state tournament as an individual, carded a 20-over par 92 in the opening round and currently sits in 20th overall in individual standings.
The final round will be held May 15.
