The Thompson High School girls’ soccer team defeated Spain Park 1-0 in double overtime in the opening round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A playoffs April 27.

Maria Poe scored a goal on an assist from Amber Harless in double overtime to lift the Warriors to victory.

Thompson goalkeeper Sarah Allen finished with eight saves in the shutout.

Spain Park goalkeeper Schyler Arnold recorded seven saves for the Jaguars in the match.
