Briarwood Christian claims section tennis title

The Briawood Christian School girls’ tennis team claimed an Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 5A section tennis tournament title April 18.
The Lions claimed five of the six singles’ championship matches and all three doubles’ championship matches.
Briarwood Christian finished with 59 points in the section tournament, which edged second-place Sylacauga by 24 points.
Chelsea finished third in team standings with 30 points.
Judson Tarrence of Briarwood Christian claimed the No. 1 singles’ championship with a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Olivia Odom of Briarwood Christian captured the No. 2 singles’ championship with a 6-2, 6-1 victory.
Lauren Bowers of Briarwood Christian won the No. 4 singles’ championship following her 6-4, 6-4 victory. Sellers Mulvaney of Briarwood Christian claimed the No. 5 singles’ championshipship with her 6-2, 6-0 victory.
Ashton Henderson of Briarwood Christian captured the No. 6 singles’ championship with her 6-3, 6-4 victory.
Judson Tarrence and Ann Ellison Tarrence of Briarwood Christian claimed the No. 1 doubles’ championship following a 6-0, 6-0 victory. Odom and Bowers won the No. 2 doubles’ championship following a 6-1, 6-2 victory.
Henderson and Frannie Ware of Briarwood Christian claimed the No. 3 doubles’ championship following a 6-4, 6-1 victory.
Shannon Reilly of Chelsea captured the No. 3 singles’ championship.
