Montevallo split a doubleheader with North Georgia College and State University Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons won game one in dramatic fashion with a walk-off single by Ross in the bottom of the 13th inning, while the Saints took game two 8-4.
Montevallo was led on the day by Fulmer, who went 5-for-8 at the plate with two runs scored and a pair of walks. With his performance he now leads the Falcons in batting average for the season with a .377 average.
Andrews was 4-for-9 with an RBI, a run scored, a walk and two hit by pitches. Ross was 3-for-7 with an RBI, a run scored, two walks and two hit by pitches. Dubberly was 3-for-8 with a run scored, an RBI and a walk.
Peterson was 4-for-11 with a pair of doubles, two RBI and a hit by pitch. Freshman Zack Willoughby was 3-for-10 with a run scored and an RBI.
Junior Michael Shreves got the start in game one and went 8.0 innings with two strikeouts and three walks. He allowed eight hits and scattered three runs including two earned.
Rich took home the win in game one as he pitched the final 2.0 innings with a walk and one hit allowed. Junior Nathan Flanagan started game two and took home the loss as he pitched 6.0 innings with two strikeouts and two walks. He allowed 11 hits and seven runs including six earned.
UM opened the scoring in game one with a run in the third and another in the fifth to take a 2-0 lead. The Saints tied the game in the seventh with a pair of runs and then took the lead in the eighth with a single run. UM answered in the bottom half as Dubberly scored on a throwing error by the left fielder.
The Saints again took the lead in the tenth with a single run but UM answered again in the bottom half. The Falcons opened the inning with two quick outs but a single by Rosenberg got the rally going. Junior Andrew Hill, a Pelham High School graduate, and Headley each drew walks to load the bases. Fulmer then hit a ground ball to the second baseman and the game looked to be over but a bobble allowed Fulmer to reach base and Rosenberg scored. Hill attempted to beat the throw home but he was gunned down by the second baseman to end the inning.
UM finally broke through again in the 13th as Headley led off the inning with a single up the middle. Fulmer followed with a single up the middle as well and moved to second on a throw which made it second and third with no outs. The Saints intentionally walked Andrews to load the bases. After a foul out and a strikeout the bat came to Ross with two outs. He then laced a ball up the middle to end the game as Rosenberg came trotting home.
The Saints jumped out to the early lead in game two as they scored four runs in the third and three more in the fourth to take a 7-0 lead. UM scored a pair of runs in the sixth to cut the lead to five but the Saints added on one more insurance run in the eight to make it 8-2. UM scored two more in the bottom of the eighth but that would be all as the Saints won 8-4.
The Falcons will return to action Wednesday, April 18 at 5 p.m. as they close out the home portion of their schedule against the University of West Alabama.
