SOT students participates in HOSA

Eight students from the Shelby County School of Technology recently participated in the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) State Leadership Conference and Competitive Events, with three of them taking top honors. The event was held Feb. 9-10 at the Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center in Montgomery. There were more than 800 participates who competed in 49 events at this year’s competition. Chandler Rockett and Katelyn Vernon won first place in Emergency Medical Technician and will now have the opportunity to represent the School of Technology at the National HOSA Leadership Conference to be held June 20-23 in Orlando, Fla. Audra Boyles placed fifth in physical therapy. Bethany Forsythe was recognized for community service hours with the Barbara James Service Award. In addition to their individual events, five students took the Health Care Issues Exam to compete for scholarships at the National HOSA Leadership Conference. The Shelby County HOSA Chapter also received recognition for 100% Chapter and HOSA Week Activities.
