Jaguars split doubleheader

The Spain Park High School baseball team split a doubleheader with Pleasant Grove and Clay-Chalkville in high school baseball action April 7.

Spain Park defeated Pleasant Grove 16-2.

Mikey White led the Jaguars offensively as he finished 1-for-1 at the plate with a homer. White drove in three runs and scored two runs.

Colton Freeman, who drove in three runs and scored one run, finished 2-for-2 at the plate with a double. Jon Sumner went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and drove in two runs. Hunter Kahn, who drove in one run and scored one run, went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double. Peyton Walsh, who drove in two runs and scored three runs, finished 2-for-3 with a double. Josh Rich, who drove in two runs and scored two runs, finished 2-for-2 with a double.

Brandon Bilek, who drove in one run and scored one run, finished 1-for-2 at the plate. Jacob CHaffin finished 1-for-3 at the plate with a double and scored two runs. Will McDonald went 1-for-2 at the plate and drove in one run. Tom Paduch finished 1-for-2 at the plate.

Dustin Cowart earned the win on the mound after recording one strikeout and one walk in two scoreless innings.

Jonathan Crawford gave up one earned run on three hits with one strikeout in two innings in relief. Taylor Morris allowed one earned run on one hit with two walks in one inning in relief.

The Jaguars fell to Clay-Chalkville 7-6.

Paul Angel led Spain Park offensively as he finished 1-for- 2 at the plate with a double and drove in two runs.

Freeman, who drove in one run and scored one run, finished 1-for-4 at the plate with a double. White went 1-for-2 at the plate and scored one run. Josh Close finished 1-for-3 at the plate and scored one run.

Hall finished 1-for-4 at the plate and scored one run. Cowart finished 1-for-3 at the plate. Brandon Marley, who drove in one run and scored one run, finished 1-for-2 at the plate. Walsh scored one run.

Rich took the loss after giving up six earned runs on seven hits with three strikeouts in three innings.

Max Goldsmith gave up one earned run on five hits with one strikeout and one walk in one inning in relief. Trey Hawker pitched two scoreless innings without giving up  a hit.
