Hornets split doubleheader

The Chelsea High School baseball team split a doubleheader with Shades Valley and Homewood in high school baseball action April 7.
The Hornets defeated Shades Valley 13-5.
Chelsea was led offensively by Tripp Hobbs, who was 3-for-4 with two doubles. Hobbs drove in one run and scored three runs in the victory.
Davis Shoemaker was 2-for-2 with two doubles and drove in three runs. Keelan Gregg went 2-for-3 with a double and drove in two runs.
Austin Dean and Hunter Kennedy were both 2-for-4 and drove in two runs each. Nathan Roddy, Joey Mock, Brody Holder and Alex Dean each had one hit in the win.
Gregg picked up the win on the mound for the Hornets after giving up five runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and two walks in five innings.
Christian Emmerke pitched two innings, giving up no runs on one hit with two strikeouts.
Chelsea fell to Homewood 3-2.
Chelsea was led offensively by Alex Dean, who was 2-for-4 with a two-run homerun.
Austin Dean 2-for-4 with a double. Hobbs was also 2-for-4 with a double. Roddy added a single in the loss.
Ross Ham took the loss on the mound for the Hornets after giving up two earned runs on two hits with three walks in two innings.
Connor McVay pitched 2/3 innings for Chelsea, giving up one run on one hit with three walks.
Alex Dean pitched 4 1/3 innings for the Hornets, giving up no runs on three hits with one walk and two strikeouts.
