Eagles sweep Midfield in doubleheader

The Calera High School softball team swept Midfield in an Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 4A, Area 8 doubleheader April 4.
The Eagles defeated Midfield 15-0 in the opening game.
Samantha Smith led Calera offensively as she finished with three hits, including a homer, in the victory. Smith also drove in three runs in the win.
Kymber McGiboney, who also homered in the win, Katie Eiland, Anna Seabury and Jocelyn Davis finished with two hits each and drove in two runs each.
Shelby Clark and Lindsey Hammac also recorded hits in the win. Hammac and Faith Graham drove in one run each.
Eiland, who earned the win in the circle, struck out three batters in a three-inning no-hitter.
Calera topped Midfield 18-0 in the nightcap.
Skyler Laird, Shelby Wright, Roberson and Smith led the Eagles with three hits each in the victory. Wright finished with a triple and a double, while Laird contributed a double in the win.
Anna Seabury added two hits, including a triple. Hammac and Emily Sanders also finished with two hits. Graham and Katlyn Sizemore finished with one hit each.
Wright led the Eagles with three RBIs. Smith, Sizemore and Sanders drove in two runs each. Graham, Seabury and Hammac drove in one run each.
Somer Roberson, who earned the win in the circle, recorded seven strikeouts in a three-inning no-hitter.
