The Pelham High School softball team defeated rival Thompson 3-2 in an Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A, Area 10 contest March 29.

Whitney Gillespie led the Panthers at the plate as she finished 2-for-3 with a double. Gillespie, who finished with one stolen base, drove in one run and scored one run in the victory.

Madi Walker finished 1-for-3 at the plate and drove in one run. Mary Morgan Dramer, who finished with two stolen bases, finished 1-for-3 at the plate and scored two runs.

Alicia Richardson finished with two stolen bases in the victory.

Gillespie earned the win in the circle after giving up just two earned runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts and one walk in a complete-game victory.

Sara Beth Watkins led Thompson at the plate as she finished 1-for-4 with a triple. Watkins drove in one run and scored one run.

Samantha Kusiak finished 1-for-3 at the plate and scored one run.

Rachel Rigney took the loss in the circle after giving up three runs, including two earned runs, on five hits with six strikeouts and two walks in a complete game.
