The Pelham High School softball team edged Pleasant Grove 1-0 in high school softball action March 26.

The Panthers scored the lone run in the game in the bottom of the first inning when Caitlyn Sapp drove in Kristen Foster.

Sapp, who finished with two stolen bases, led Pelham as she finished 1-for-3 at the plate and drove in one run. Foster recorded the Panthers’ only other hit in the game and finished 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Whitney Gillespie earned the win in the circle after giving up just three hits with seven strikeouts and one walk in a complete-game shutout.
