HOOVER — The Hoover Beautification Board is now taking entries for the 2012 Commercial Awards event.

Entry forms for the event can be found online at Hooveral.org or picked up in the main lobby of the Hoover Municipal Building.

According to a Beautification Board press release, completed forms are due no later than June 1.

Judging will take place June 21 by a panel of experts from outside the city of Hoover, the press release read.

Judging will be based on basic overall appearance, creativity, design and color coordination. To win, properties must be within the city limits of Hoover and comply with all city ordinances.

Categories include: small single tenant business; shopping mall, shopping strip and mixed use center; restaurants; hotel or motel; financial institutions; professional office building; large office complex; service stations and convenience stores; fire stations; schools; and churches. There is also an “other” category for properties that fit none of the previous categories.

The Beautification Board will also award a Mayor’s Award and a Tree Conservation Award.
