Tournament preps Jags for stretch run

Spain Park used a late-inning comeback in a 5-3 win over Hartselle to reach the championship game.
After falling behind 2-0, the Jaguars cut the deficit to one run following a sacrifice fly by Hunter Kahn in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Spain Park took the lead after scoring one run on a Hartselle error and another run on a passed ball in the bottom of the fifth inning.
The Jaguars clinched the victory with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. McDonald and Josh Rich each reached base with McDonald scoring on a passed ball and Rich scoring on an RBI single by Marley.
Freeman earned the win on the mound after pitching the first complete game of his career. Freeman gave up three runs with nine strikeouts and five walks in the victory.
“Colton pitched really well,” Smith said. “We’ve got to have that from him.”
Spain Park jumped out to an early 10-4 lead against Hoover after two and half innings in the championship game.
The Jaguars scored four runs in the top of the first inning, which featured hits by Mikey White, Freeman, McDonald, Rich and Cowart. Spain Park added five runs in the top of the third inning, which featured hits by Paul Angel, McDonald and Cowart.
However, the Buccaneers responded with five runs in the bottom of the third inning and seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to secure the victory.
