The Falcons gave up five runs in the first inning of the first game and trailed the entire game until the dramatic eighth inning. The Pirates scored another run in the third before the Falcons got on the board in the fourth with a single run. Armstrong plated another run in the seventh and two in the eighth to take a 9-1 lead.
UM opened the eighth with back-to-back singles and then a walk loaded the bases. With Peterson up to bat the pitcher baled which brought in a run and on the very next pitch Peterson sent a ball over the fence for a three-run homerun. He was just one balk away from another grand slam. After a single and back-to-back walks the bases were loaded again for sophomore Alec Stiver. Stiver hit a single to score Ross and cut the lead to just four runs. With the bases still loaded senior Josh Headley hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield which scored junior Austin Dubberly, a Pelham High School graduate, to cut the lead to just three. After a strikeout, Fulmer hit an RBI single to left center to score freshman Vinny Rodriguez. Junior Vincent Andrews then drew his second walk of the inning to load the bases once again as Peterson stepped into the box. Peterson then launched a ball over the left centerfield fence to put the Falcons ahead 12-9.
Rich came in, in the ninth and gave up a single and a walk before striking out the next batter and producing a pop up to make it two outs. After a single loaded the bases the final batter flied out to centerfield to give the Falcons their ninth Peach Belt Conference victory of the season.
In game two it was all Pirates as they scored 22 runs over the first five innings and coasted to a 22-6 victory.
