Bulldogs fall to Hale County

The Montevallo High School softball team fell to Hale County 8-4 in high school softball action March 15.
Montevallo got on the board first when Mallory Anderson blasted an 0-2 pitch over the left-field wall in the bottom of the first inning to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.
Hale County answered right back in the top of the second to knot the score at 1-1, then exploded for five more runs in the fifth inning to go ahead 6-1.
The Bulldogs answered with a pair of runs in their half of the fifth inning when Sachie Broadhead delivered a two-out double. Addie Edwards and McKenna Anderson followed up with a single and a triple.
After a quiet sixth inning, Hale County tacked on two more runs in the top of the seventh to extend the lead back to 8-3.
Montevallo battled in the final half inning, as Megan Draper led off with a single and Alex Bolton later scored on Broadhead’s second double of the game. Hale County’s pitching shut the rally down at that point, and Montevallo saw its comeback bid come to an end.
