Rebels split baseball doubleheader in Florida

The Coosa Valley Academy baseball team split a doubleheader against Liberty County (Fla.) and Marianna (Fla.), a pair of public schools on the Florida panhandle, in a doubleheader March 12 at Chipola College.
The Rebels (10-3) defeated Liberty County (Fla.) 8-3 to extend their winning streak to eight games in the opener.
Steven Cryer and Hunter Winslett led Coosa Valley at the plate after recording one hit and driving in two runs each in the victory.
Michael Mims and Tyler Hickman added one hit and drove in one run each. Garrett McMillan finished with two hits. Preston Parker and Cody Wood finished with one hit each.
Allen Logan earned the win on the mound after giving up one earned run on three hits with four strikeouts in five innings.
Winslett allowed two runs in one inning in relief. Hickman didn’t give up a hit in the final inning.
Coosa Valley fell to Marianna (Fla.) 8-2 in the nightcap.
Mims, Winslett and Hickman led the Rebels with two hits each.
Austin Tatum, Cryer, Logan, McMillan, Parker and Wood added one hit each.
Jake Carter took the loss on the mound after giving up six runs, including three earned runs, on three hits in 1 2/3 innings.
Christian Jantz, one of three relief pitchers along with Myles Varner and Tatum, recorded two strikeouts in one inning on the mound.
