MONTEVALLO – The Montevallo Planning Commission will hold a public hearing March 15 at 7 p.m. at the Parnell Memorial Library to discuss proposed changes to the city’s zoning map.

The City Council recently approved the changes to the zoning ordinance, which are available online at Cityofmontevallo.com. The map is the next step in the process. Once approved, the map will be incorporated into the city’s new zoning ordinance, and both will go into effect May 1, 2012.

“We want to make certain that all of our local property owners are aware of the proposed changes before they are finalized,” wrote Mayor Ben McCrory in a March 9 email. “In fact, the public will have an additional chance for input in April when the proposed map is taken before our City Council for final approval.”

McCrory wrote the public hearing would most likely take place April 23.
