The second half was a different story completely, with the Yellow Jackets shooting just 14 percent from the floor (3-of-21) in the final 16 minutes.

Barbour County began the third quarter with an 8-0 run and outscored Vincent 12-2 in the period to carry a 37-29 lead in the final quarter. The Jaguars took their first double-digit lead in the game, 42-31, with 4:50 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Vincent cut the deficit to nine points, 45-36, following a 3-pointer by Williams with 1:37 remaining, but the Yellow Jackets’ floor leader picked up his fifth foul three seconds later.

Vincent managed only a pair of free throws by Moon in the final 1:24, which kept the Yellow Jackets from making a comeback.

Moon said the Yellow Jackets, who knocked down five 3-pointers and shot 45 percent from the floor in the first 16 minutes, suffered from untimely shooting woes in the second half.

“(Barbour County) really didn’t do anything different,” Moon said. “We just didn’t make shots. They made shots and we didn’t.”

Hadder said his players likely won’t remember much about the championship game 10 years down the road. They will remember the journey to get there, Hadder said.

“They’re going to be remembered for what they’ve done here,” Hadder said. “It’s really been an incredible run.”
