Moon said the Yellow Jackets proved all doubters who believed Vincent would struggle this season without departed seniors Keyon Wallace and Bruce Hamilton wrong by capturing the AHSAA Class 2A Northeast Region tournament championship.
“It feels real good,” Moon said. “At the beginning of the season, nobody thought we could make it. We knew if we did the things we were supposed to do, we could.”
Hadder said he feels privileged to be surrounded by his players on a daily basis.
“I thank the Lord for the opportunity to work with these guys,” Hadder said. “I can’t say enough about these guys. I just hope I’m leading them the right way.”
A vocal group from the Vincent community made the hour-long trek to Jacksonville to support the Yellow Jackets in the region tournament. Hadder said the town has rallied around the school’s basketball team.
“It’s a source of pride,” Hadder said.
