Jags to face rival Bucs in sub-region action

Eight high school basketball teams in Shelby County advanced to the sub-region round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association basketball playoffs.
The sub-region contests will take place Feb. 16-17.
The Spain Park High School boys’ basketball team, which finished runner-up in the AHSAA Class 6A, Area 12 tournament, will travel to rival Hoover for a Class 6A sub-region contest Feb. 17 at 7 p.m.
The winner between the Jaguars and the Buccaneers will advance to the Class 6A Northeast Region tournament.
The Pelham High School boys’ basketball team, which finished runner-up in the AHSAA Class 6A, Area 10 tournament, will travel to Mountain Brook in a Class 6A sub-region game Feb. 17 at 7 p.m.
The winner between Pelham and Mountain Brook will advance to the Class 6A Northeast Region tournament.
The Vincent High School boys’ basketball team, which won the AHSAA Class 2A, Area 10 tournament, will host Lineville in a Class 2A sub-region contest Feb. 17 at 7 p.m.
The winner between Vincent and Lineville will advance to the Class 2A Northeast Region tournament.

The Briarwood Christian School girls’ basketball team, which finished runner-up in the Class 5A, Area 7 tournament, will travel to Valley for a Class 5A sub-region contest Feb. 16 at 7 p.m.
The winner between Briarwood Christian and Valley will advance to the Class 5A Central Region tournament.
The Calera High School girls’ basketball team, which finished runner-up in the Class 4A, Area 8 tournament, will travel to Sumter Central in a Class 4A sub-region game Feb. 16 at 7 p.m.
The winner between Calera and Sumter Central will advance to the Class 4A Central Region tournament.
The Vincent High School girls’ basketball team, which finished runner-up in the Class 2A, Area 10 tournament, will travel to Woodland in a Class 2A sub-region contest Feb. 16 at 7 p.m.
The winner between Vincent and Woodland will advance to the Class 2A Central Region tournament.
