The Spain Park High School boys’ basketball team defeated Mountain Brook 48-44 in an Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A, Area 12 contest Jan. 10.

Rembert Martin led the Jaguars (14-8 overall, 1-0 in Class 6A, Area 12) with 17 points in the victory. Martin also grabbed three rebounds and finished with two steals in the win.

Eric Washington added 13 points. Blake Dudchock and Robby Prater added five points each. Dudchock grabbed five rebounds, while Prater dished out a team-high four assists.

Sean Taylor chipped in four points and five rebounds. Austin Jones and Deion Wright contributed two points each.

GIRLS

The Spain Park High School girls’ basketball team fell to Mountain Brook 56-46 in an Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A, Area 12 contest Jan. 10.

Whitney Gulledge led the Jaguars (12-10 overall, 0-1 in Class 6A, Area 12) with 15 points. Gulledge also grabbed five rebounds.

Ashley Gaston added 10 points and three rebounds. Victoria Adams chipped in nine points and a team-high 12 rebounds.

Kathryn Boswell and Jessica Freeman contributed six points each. Jasmine Moore grabbed three rebounds.
