The Chelsea High School girls’ basketball team defeated Sylacauga 51-39 in an Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 5A, Area 7 contest Jan. 3.

Amanda Mock led the Hornets (7-8 overall, 1-1 in Class 5A, Area 7) with 19 points in the victory. Mock also grabbed a team-high 16 rebounds to finish with a double-double.

Courtney Campbell added 13 points. Perri Lambert contributed five points, five assists and five steals in the win.

BOYS

The Chelsea High School boys’ basketball team fell to Sylacauga 61-35 in an Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 5A, Area 7 contest Jan. 3.

Jake Ganus led the Hornets (7-10 overall, 1-1 in Class 5A, Area 7) with a game-high 17 points.
