Wilsonville – Fourmile Fire and Rescue in Wilsonville has been awarded a $223,250 federal fire grant to purchase a new fire truck. Congressman Spencer Bachus (AL-6) made the announcement on Dec. 28.
“Firefighters are on the front lines every day, protecting lives and saving property. They deserve modern equipment and the best in safety gear,” Bachus said. “This new fire truck will help Fourmile Fire and Rescue in its mission to quickly and effectively respond to emergency calls. The department is to be commended for its service to citizens in the community.”
According to the release, the grant will be used for a new tanker-tender truck with enhanced capabilities to fight fires in rural areas.
“This grant will allow us to purchase a tanker-tender truck that will hold much more water for our fire fighting,” Chief John Entrekin said.
“We are very excited about it and what it will mean to the people that we serve. We appreciate Congressman Bachus’ support of this program which is very important to our department and a lot of other fire departments.”
