The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office will hold a free child safety/car seat inspection Dec. 16 in Chelsea.

In partnership with Children’s of Alabama and Wal-Mart, the sheriff’s office will inspect car seats for the public from 2-4 p.m. at the Chelsea Wal-Mart.

Child Passenger Safety Technicians from the sheriff’s office, Pelham Police Department, Alabaster Fire Department, Alabama Fire College and Mountain Brook Fire Department will all be on hand to inspect children’s car seats and demonstrate how to properly install them.

Participants do not have to register to take part in the inspection, and proper installation of the child car seat is completely free. The sheriff’s office, with its partners, will be holding routine car-seat inspections around the county throughout 2012, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.

The Wal-Mart in Chelsea is located at 16077 U.S. 280.
