Warriors top Independence in Cleveland Invitational

The Thompson High School wrestling team defeated Independence (Tenn.) 35-30 Dec. 10 in the Cleveland Invitation in Cleveland, Tenn.
Eight Warriors won individual matches against Independence.
Conner Gilson earned a 11-3 major decision over Zach Pelkey of Independence in the 106-pound match. Austin Gould won his 113-pound match by forfeit.
Reed Jacks earned a 15-2 major decision over Robbie Allen of Independence in the 120-pound match. Mario Haynes earned a 17-6 major decision over Matthew Overton of Independence in the 126-pound match.
Nick Hall earned a 10-1 major decision over Riley Wilson of Independence in the 145-pound match. John Austin (J.A.) Jones earned a 10-0 major decision over Charles Allen of Independence in the 152-pound match.
Josh Gillaspie earned a 7-0 decision over Vito Scara of Independence in the 160-pound match. Jesse Masters pinned Zachary McMillan of Independence in the 182-pound match.
Thompson fell to host Cleveland (Tenn.) 39-24. Five Warriors won individual matches against Cleveland, including Haynes, Jones, Gillaspie, Masters and Cahman Holder.
The Warriors fell to Christian Brothers (Tenn.) 43-19. Four Thompson wrestlers won individual matches against Christian Brothers, including Gillaspie, Masters, Jones and Brewer Gilliland.
Thompson fell to Father Ryan (Tenn.) 42-18. Five Warriors won individual matches against Father Ryan, including Holder, Jacks, Haynes, Gilliland and Jones.
