One woman was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries Dec. 7 after firefighters were forced to cut her out of her sport utility vehicle.
The wreck happened at about 9:50 a.m. when the victim’s SUV collided with a pickup truck at the intersection of Shelby County 52 and McCain Parkway, which is near the Shelby County Services Building.
After the collision, the victim’s SUV overturned, trapping the victim inside, according to Pelham Fire Department records.
After fire department personnel cut the woman out of her vehicle, Regional Paramedical Services transported her to UAB Hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries, said Pelham Police Department Lt. David Rushton.
“Sometimes the doors get crushed and are hard to open, so it’s easier for them to just cut the roof off,” Rushton said.
Rushton said the woman in the SUV was the only person transported to the hospital after the wreck.
The Pelham Police Department and the Pelham Fire Department responded to the incident.
