The Calera High School wrestling team dropped its season-opening matches Dec. 1.

The Eagles fell to Walker 48-36 in a match. Six Calera wrestlers won individual matches against Walker.

Christian McDonald of Calera defeated Austin Meadows of Walker in the 120-pound match. Danny Diaz of Calera pinned Dustin Kemble of Walker in 1:30 in the 220-pound match. Kevin Murry of Calera pinned Crui Birdyshaw of Walker in 1:40 in the heavyweight match.

Shawn O’Neill, Coby Mize and Cody Thomaston of Calera each won matches by forfeit.

Calera fell to Brookwood 60-18. Three Eagles won their individual matches against Brookwood.

Braxton Stokes of Calera pinned Charles Hallman of Brookwood in one minute in the 220-pound match. Diaz pinned Houston Thompson of Brookwood in one minute in the heavyweight match. Mize won his match by forfeit.
