Pelham drops season opener to Clay-Chalkville

The Pelham High School girls’ basketball team fell to Clay-Chalkville 42-39 in its season-opening game Nov. 8.
Erin Whitman led the Panthers (0-1) with 17 points in the loss. Whitman also grabbed a team-high 15 rebounds. Ashley Kate Kepler added 14 points.
Pelham held a 22-18 lead at halftime before Clay-Chalkville erased the deficit and held on for the win in the second half.
The game was coach Jeremy Simpson’s first game as the Panthers’ head coach.
