MONTEVALLO – A University of Montevallo student was killed in a car accident at the intersection of Alabama 119 and Shelby County 22, Moore’s Crossroads, in Montevallo on Oct. 23.

Rachel Franciele Ward, 19, was a 2010 graduate of Hope Christian School in Pelham, according to a press release from UM President Dr. John Stewart. Ward, originally from Alabaster, was a sophomore music major at the university.

According to Stewart, funeral arrangements are pending.
