MONTEVALLO – The seniors who visit the Montevallo Senior Center will be rocking comfortably in the center’s new cushions donated by Summer Classics.
“We like to contribute to the city as much as we can,” said Jessica Wilson, assistant to the president of Summer Classics. “What better way to give back than to the senior center?”
Debby Raymond, finance director of Montevallo, contacted Summer Classics to replace the faded seat cushions on the center’s rocking chairs. Summer Classics responded with eight custom-made cushions.
“Summer Classics has always been a good corporate partner,” Mayor Ben McCrory said. “They have a plant right here in town that manufactures these cushions.”
Raymond said the old cushions didn’t have backs, so the rocking chairs were less comfortable.
“I did it because I like our seniors,” Raymond said. “They’re special. Miss Rose (DeVinner) is so good with our seniors. We want to do anything we can do to make them more comfortable.”
Rose DeVinner said the seniors have already been asking about the cushions.
“They’re just going to enjoy them,” she said. “They sit outside on the porch in the fall and watch the squirrels, or they sit out in the morning and drink coffee or hot chocolate.”
