Five schools to host area volleyball tournaments

Five high school volleyball teams will host an Alabama High School Athletic Association area tournament Oct. 10-11.
Oak Mountain, Briarwood Christian, Calera, Montevallo and Indian Springs will each host an area tournament.
All area tournaments in Class 1A-Class 3A will be held Oct. 10. Class 4A-Class 6A area tournaments will take place Oct. 11.
Montevallo and Indian Springs will each host a Class 3A area tournament Oct. 10.
The Bulldogs earned a bye in the first round of the Class 3A, Area 7 tournament and will take on the winner between Hale County-Northside at 6:30 p.m. in the area championship match Oct. 10.
Indian Springs earned a bye in the first round of the Class 3A, Area 8 tournament and will face the winner between Leeds-B.B. Comer at 5:45 p.m. in the area championship match Oct. 10.
Vincent will travel Ohatchee in the Class 2A, Area 10 tournament. The Yellow Jackets will face Cleveland in a semifinal match Oct. 10 at 3:30 p.m. The area championship match is scheduled for 5 p.m.
Oak Mountain will face Thompson in the Class 6A, Area 10 tournament semifinals Oct. 11 at 4:30 p.m. Pelham will meet Hoover in another semifinal match at 4:30 p.m. The Class 6A, Area 10 championship match is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
Spain Park will travel to Mountain Brook for the Class 6A, Area 12 tournament. The Jaguars will meet the host Spartans in a semifinal match Oct. 11 at 3:30 p.m. The tournament championship match is set for 6 p.m.
Briarwood Christian will host Talladega in the Class 5A, Area 7 tournament semifinals Oct. 11 at 4:30 p.m. Chelsea will face Shelby County in another semifinal match. The Class 5A, Area 7 tournament championship match is set for 5:30 p.m.
Calera will host Jemison, Bibb County and West Blocton in the Class 4A, Area 6 tournament Oct. 11. Calera will meet West Blocton in a semifinal match at 4 p.m. The tournament championship match will take place following the semifinal match.
The top two teams in each area tournament will advance to a region tournament Oct. 15 at a site to be determined.
