First-year Coosa Valley Academy football coach Bobby Hughes is tiring of seeing the same storyline each Friday night.
Once again, his Rebels came up just short in the fourth quarter in a 27-19 loss on the road at Chambers Academy in an AISA Class 1A, Region 1 contest Sept. 15.
Coosa Valley scored a touchdown late in the game and attempted a two-point conversion. The two-point try failed, which left the Rebels with a 20-19 deficit.
Chambers Academy added a late touchdown to push the winning margin to eight points.
“We got beat in the fourth quarter like we always do,” Hughes said.
Cody Wood led the Rebels with 121 rushing yards on nine carries. Myles Varner scored two rushing touchdowns in the game.
Mason Donohoo caught four passes for 41 yards.
Jake Carter led the Coosa Valley defense with 15 tackles. Hunter Winslett recorded 12 tackles in the game.
