Chargers stun Falcons in men’s soccer match

The University of Montevallo men’s soccer team suffered its first setback of the season Sept. 14 as the University of Alabama at Huntsville handed the Falcons a 3-1 loss.
Montevallo’s lone goal was scored by sophomore Jackson Tolleson off a corner kick from senior Tyson Eyo.
The Chargers opened the scoring just 14:30 into the first half as Kyle Simmons scored off a cross from Felix Hjalmarsson. The remained 1-0 until halftime. The Chargers outshot the Falcons 5-2 in the first half.
Montevallo (3-1-) finally broke through at the 53:19 mark, as Tolleson scored off a corner kick from Eyo. The Chargers responded just three minutes later as Simmons struck again off a pass from Mitchell Wilson.
The final goal came at the 74:03 mark as Hjalmarsson headed in a free kick from Jarrod Muggleton.
Montevallo was called for 13 fouls and was given four cards, including a red card.
Sophomore Brendan Ledgeway made two saves in the loss.
The Falcons return to action Sept. 16 at 4:30 p.m. as they host Christian Brothers University in a non-conference match.
