Chargers sweep South Montgomery Academy in doubleheader

The Cornerstone Christian School volleyball team defeated South Montgomery Academy in a pair of Alabama Independent Schools Association Class 1A, Region 1 matches Sept. 1.
The Chargers (6-2) defeated South Montgomery 25-10, 25-12, 25-15 in the opening match.
Sophomore Tamera Kirksey led Cornerstone Christian with a team-high four kills and 11 service aces in the victory.
Eighth-grader Laura Beth Franklin added one kill and eight service aces. Freshman Lindsey Sims posted one kill and five service aces. Freshman Nicki Waldrop registered one kill, three assists and six service aces.
Senior Jaclyn Largin posted eight service aces and four assists in the match.
Cornerstone Christian defeated South Montgomery 25-13, 25-9, 25-11 in the second match.
Kirksey led the Chargers with four kills and 18 service aces in the victory.
Sims added two kills and five service aces. Franklin posted two kills and three service aces.
Largin finished with 11 service aces and a team-high six assists. Waldrop registered six service aces and four assists.
Eighth-grader Grace Perry contributed four service aces.
