The Briarwood Christian School volleyball team opened its season Aug. 18 with a 17-25, 23-25, 18-25 loss to Gardendale.

Logan Nasworthy led the Lions (0-1) with eight kills and nine digs in the defeat. Nasworthy also had a service ace.

Madison Chambers added two kills and one block. Carly Cline finished with one kill, three digs and a team-high three service aces.

Lizzie Baumbach registered two digs and a service ace. Hope Donohue finished with four digs. Christie Robertson contributed two digs.
