COLUMBIANA – Excitement is in the air as everyone prepares to go back to school, and the Shelby Humane Society is no exception.

Beginning Monday, Aug. 1, the Shelby Humane Society will run an adoption special to coincide with the first day of school in Shelby County.

From Aug. 1-11, if people bring in school supplies to donate to local schools in need, Shelby Humane will waive its adoption fee. This applies to both cats and dogs.

Typically, the adoption fee is $80 for less than 6 months of age and $60 for over 6 months.
