Freddy Lynn Cooper
Vincent
Freddy Lynn Cooper exchanged his earthly address for his heavenly home. Freddy leaves to cherish his loving wife, Paula, of 47 years; two sons, David and his wife, Johnna and Jeff and his wife, Danette; and six wonderful grandchildren, Andrew, Todd, Lindsey, Zachary, Lucas and Madelin Grace. His loving extended family includes his mother, Reba Hamby; one sister, Diana and husband Douglas McIntosh; one brother, Mike and wife Joyce Cooper; and a host of other close friends and relatives.
Freddy served six years in the United States Navy on the USS English. He also worked at Kimberly Clark Corporation as an electrician until retirement. He was a longtime member of Vincent Revival Center where he and his wife served as children’s church directors for many years. He was a deacon and worked in many other ministries in the church.
From 1985, Freddy served as mission’s director and led many mission teams to Central American countries. His passionate love for God and answering a call to the whitened harvest fields motivated him to serve as a full-time missionary associate in Costa Rica for three years where he assisted missionaries in church planting and construction, worked at the language school and other mission activities. On his return to the United States, Freddy and Paula applied for and received Assemblies of God World Missions appointment for service in the Dominican Republic. Their goal was to work with the Haitian people following the earthquake. They were stationed in Santiago for a short time before Freddy was suddenly airlifted back to Birmingham for medical treatment.
Viewing will be at Vincent Revival Center on Monday, July 18, 2011 from 5-8 p.m., and funeral service will be held at the same location on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 11 a.m. Graveside service will be held at the Alabama National Cemetery located in Montevallo at 1:30 p.m. following the funeral.
