Sheriff’s office investigating pharmacy burglaries

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is investigating several pharmacy burglaries or attempted burglaries that happened late June 20 and in the early morning hours of June 21.

Sheriff’s deputies are at the Walgreens Pharmacy in the 4400 block of Valleydale Road, the Walgreens Pharmacy in the 100 block of Doug Baker Boulevard and the Rite-Aid Pharmacy in the 4500 block of Valleydale Road attempting to determine what, if anything, was stolen.

A suspect in the burglaries has been detained, and investigators are in the process of determining if that person is the culprit.

The Pelham Police Department is also investigating a similar burglary that happened in its jurisdiction last night.

The investigation is ongoing.
