Columbiana is the place to be in Shelby County in June!
Once again, the popular Music on Main Street is back. Bring your lawn chair, your picnic basket, and your dancing shoes and come every Friday night from 7-9 p.m. starting June 3 and ending Aug. 26.
This free event is sponsored by Chairman Susan Conn of Main Street Florist and Columbiana Merchants and Professional Association, the South Shelby Chamber of Commerce and the city of Columbiana, especially the Columbiana Police Department. Chief Raymond Vick and his fine officers provide security for this safe and fun event for the whole family.
Randy Glenn’s Band begins this year’s music on June 3. Glenn, from Wilsonville, is a popular favorite. June 10 is Elvis night. Come rock and roll with “the King.”
June 17 at 6:30 p.m. begins a special, double-delight night. The Shelby County High School reunion for all classes will reunite on South Main while “Back In Time,” the outstanding a capella group, will sing oldies but goodies all night long. Randy McDonald, reunion chair, hopes for a huge crowd to get together, visit with old friends, make new friends and dance the night away. For info, call McDonald at 451-2067.
The South Shelby Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring Coffee with Mayor Allan Lowe on June 16, at 8 a.m. at the Shelby County Museum (the Old Courthouse), hosted by Bobby Joe Seales and the Shelby County Historical Society. Local restaurants will provide breakfast food. Local business leaders, civic leaders and elected leaders will join the mayor to welcome and visit with everyone. All are welcome to this free event, which will feature information on upcoming Liberty Day. This will be a great way to network in the Columbiana community.
Liberty Day weekend will be June 24-25 in Columbiana. This free event is one of Columbiana’s highlights. Music, vendors, Miss Alabama and Miss Shelby signing autographs, Liberty Day Parade, children’s activities, the Artist Gallery at the SCAC, the Blue Star Salute Foundation’s moving memorial to all fallen soldiers since 9/11 and incredible fireworks are just a few of the many, many events planned. Music on Main will not be “June 24 because Liberty Day has plenty of music that night.
Put these dates on your calendar and come to Columbiana in June for a multitude of fun, free events all month long.
