Shelby County eliminated in region tournament

The Shelby County High School softball was eliminated from the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 5A South Central Region tournament May 14 following a 10-0 loss to rival Chelsea in a consolation game at Troy.
Courtney Shields led the Wildcats as she finished 2-for-3 at the plate in the defeat.
Kaitlyn Paschall took the loss after giving up one earned run on three hits with three walks in four innings in the circle.
Anna Couch allowed seven earned runs on nine hits with two walks in three innings in relief.
Shelby County opened the tournament with a 2-1 win over Brookwood before falling into the consolation bracket following a 11-0 loss to Hueytown.
The Wildcats topped Pleasant Grove 7-4 and knocked off Demopolis 6-5 to reach the consolation final against Chelsea.
