This weekend’s “Cops on Top” fundraiser for Special Olympics has been postponed due to Wednesday’s tornadoes and severe weather across the state.

The state director of the Torch Run program postponed all such fundraisers across Alabama, Pelham Officer Debbie Warner said.

Shelby County’s event, an effort of the sheriff’s office and Pelham Police Department, was to be held April 29-30 at the Greystone Walmart on U.S. Highway 280.

“We are all praying for the victims, volunteers and emergency personnel during this difficult time,” Warner added.
