The Federal Bureau of Investigation in Birmingham recently served a search warrant on a Hoover-based medical company with branches in Pelham, Alabaster and Greystone.
The FBI searched the American Family Care corporate offices off Riverchase Office Road in Hoover on April 21, according to FBI Birmingham Public Affairs Specialist Paul Daymond.
Although Daymond verified the FBI served a search warrant on the corporate offices, he said he was unable to reveal any details or the cause of the search.
“I wouldn’t really be able to give you any information other than we did search that location,” Daymond said. “That was us, we were there and we conducted a search.”
American Family Care specializes in family and urgent medical care services at its 28 locations in Alabama and Tennessee. The Pelham, Alabaster and Greystone clinics, along with the corporate offices, are in Shelby County.
The clinics are open extended hours and on weekends to serve patients whose conditions do not warrant a hospital visit, or whose primary care physicians are not available.
Daymond said he was unsure if the FBI will release any information about the search, but said another government entity could.
AFC founder and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Bruce Irwin and AFC Marketing of Director and Occupational Medicine Felicia Fortune did not return messages left April 26.
More details will be posted as they are released.
