Dan and Helen Harrell of Montevallo celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Sunday, April 3, 2011. A reception was given for them at Aldrich First Baptist Church, and Pastor Dennis Draper blessed the couple with a prayer.

Veronica Bailey of Master’s Bouquet catered the reception. The colors were spring pastels, and there were several lovely spring flower arrangements. The cake had a beautiful silk topper with “60” on it. Veronica served her famous nut mixture, sherbet punch and fruit with cream cheese dip.

Dan and Helen have lived in the Montevallo area all their lives, and both are retired from the University of Montevallo. They have four children, Tithie Hall (Allen), Danny Harrell (Susan), Marie Segers (Leon) and Timothy Harrell. They have seven grandchildren, Phillip Mims, Chris Payne, Jason Hall, Stephen Cost, Matthew Harrell, Bethany McCoy and Keisha Schweitzer. They have five great-grandchildren.

They’re already looking forward to their 70th anniversary!
