COLUMBIANA – The Shelby Humane Society has a new executive director.

Jenny Miller has been selected for the position by the Humane Society’s board of directors.

Miller, who most recently was an attorney for the law firm of Lloyd, Gray, Whitehead & Monroe, has previously served the Shelby Humane Society as a volunteer, member of the board of directors and president of the board.

In addition to Miller’s appointment, the board also has announced the promotion of Sara Shirley as the society’s new director of operations.

Shirley has served the society for the last eight years. She was interim executive director for the last four months and will now manage all day-to-day operations and programs for the Shelby Humane Society.

Founded in 1977, the Shelby Humane Society, located at 381 McDow Road, provides shelter and care within the facility for about 5,000 animals each year.
