Pelham sweeps Briarwood Christian in doubleheader

The Pelham High School baseball team defeated Briarwood Christian School in a baseball doubleheader April 2.

Pelham defeated Briarwood Christian 10-3 in the opener.

Tanner Jackson led the Panthers at the plate as he finished 2-for-3 with a home run and a double. Jackson drove in three runs and scored two runs in the victory.

Jake Williams finished 1-for-2 with a solo homer. Ty Pierce, who drove in one run and scored three runs, finished 1-for-2 with a triple. Reed Bright went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Nick Foster finished 1-for-4 and drove in a run. Justin Woodruff scored one run.

Parker Curry earned the win on the mound after giving up three earned runs on eight hits with six strikeouts and three walks in five innings. Tyler Millsap finished with four strikeouts and a walk in two innings in relief.

Daniel Robert led Briarwood Christian at the plate as he finished 3-for-4 and scored a run.

Micah Hooper went 2-for-3 with a double. Logan Crook finished 1-for-4 with a homer and drove in two runs. Ben Craft finished 1-for-4 and drove in a run. Harrison Foster finished 1-for-2.

Will Brown took the loss after giving up four earned runs on six hits with seven strikeouts in four innings. Wynn Morris allowed two earned run with two strikeouts and four walks in two innings.

The Panthers defeated the Lions 12-7 in the nightcap.

Curry led Pelham at the plate as he finished 3-for-3 and scored three runs.

Jackson went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Bright, who drove in one run and scored two runs, finished 2-for-4 with a home run.

Michael Herring went 1-for-2 with three RBIs and a run scored. Fletcher Johnson finished 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Jackson Pruitt went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Nolan Vinson finished 1-for-2 and drove in a run.

Hunter Pearson earned the win on the mound after giving up two earned runs on seven hits with 11 strikeouts and three walks in seven innings.

Foster led Briarwood Christian at the plate as he finished 2-for-3 with a home run. Foster drove in two runs and scored one run.

Robert finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Matthew Furuto, who drove in one run and scored two runs, went 1-for-3 with a double. Craft finished 1-for-3 and drove in one run. Dan Thomas finished 1-for-3 and scored a run.

Hooper took the loss after giving up two earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts in two innings.
