The engagement of Wendy Nicole Barber, daughter of Mrs. Kathey Barber and the late Mr. Randy Barber of Harpersville, to Michael Dustin Mathis, son of Timmy and Linda Mathis of Dothan, is announced by the bride’s mother.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Ida Lee Carr of Locust Fork and the late Mr. James Harris of Warrior and the late Mr. and Mrs. MW Barber of Harpersville. The prospective groom is the grandson of Elbert and Mary Lois Dickerson of Dothan and Mr. and Mrs. Billy Mathis of Sebring, Fla., and the late Mrs. Betty Broyles of Dothan.

Wendy is a 2003 graduate of Vincent High School and a 2009 graduate of Troy University, where she majored in criminal Justice and psychology. She is employed by Jackson Correctional Institution in Malone, Fla.

Michael is a 2001 graduate of Cottonwood High School and is currently attending Enterprise State Community College. He is employed by Mclane SE Dothan in Dothan.

The wedding will take place on May 14, 2011, at Hargis Christian Retreat in Chelsea with the reception immediately following.
