The Kingwood Christian School softball team captured Edgewood Academy softball tournament championship March 12.

The Lions (16-0) defeated Glenwood Academy in the semifinals before topping Lowndes Academy in the championship game.

Kingwood Christian defeated Glenwood Academy 4-2 following Jordan Gray’s walk-off home run in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Erin Jones led the Lions at the plate as she finished 2-for-3.

Whitney Gillespie went 1-for-2, scored a run and drove in a run. Gillespie picked up the win after striking out nine batters in six innings.

The Lions defeated Lowndes Academy 6-0 in the championship game.

Gillespie led Kingwood Christian at the plate as she finished 2-for-3.

Madeline Lee, Kaylyn Ingram and Gray had one hit each.

Gillespie gave up only two hits with 14 strikeouts in six innings.
