Evangel Christian sweeps Hope Christian

The Evangel Christian School baseball team swept rival Hope Christian in a doubleheader March 12.
Evangel Christian defeated the Eagles 9-1 in the opener.
Brandon Mackey led the Lightning (6-2) at the plate as he finished 3-for-3 with a double. Mackey drove in one run and scored two runs.
Ben Albright finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Nate Scott went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Roecker Melick finished 1-for-4 with a run scored.
Andrew Thompson finished 1-for-4 with a run scored. Colin Myers went 1-for-3 with two runs scored. Peter Lau finished 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Albright picked up the win on the mound after giving up one earned run on four hits with eight strikeouts in six innings.
Kaleb Arnold led Hope Christian (0-6) at the plate with a triple.
Kenneth Norris added a double. Matthew Hyde finished 1-for-3 with a run scored. Caleb Key went 1-for-3.
Tyler Hickman, who took the loss for the Eagles, gave up four earned runs on eight hits with three strikeouts and a walk in 5 2/3 innings.
The Lightning defeated Hope Christian 23-9 in the nightcap.
Mackey led Evangel Christian at the plate as he finished 4-for-5 with two doubles. Mackey drove in thee runs and scored four runs.
Roecker Melick finished 3-for-5 with a double, drove in three runs and scored a run. Lau went 2-for-2 with a double, an RBI and three runs scored. Jaron Sylestine finished 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs.
Josh Letson went 1-for-1 with two RBIs and four runs scored. Grayson Melick went 1-for-2 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored. Aaron Clayton finished 1-for-1 and scored two runs.
Roecker Melick earned the win after giving up one earned run on two hits with a strikeout in two innings.
Dillon Thompson led Hope Christian at the plate as he went 2-for-2 with a run scored.
Andrew Hale finished 1-for-2 and drove in a run. Josh Arnold went 1-for-4 with a run scored. Key finished 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored.
Matthew Hyde finished with two doubles and a triple. Hyde drove in two runs and scored a run.
Kaleb Arnold took the loss after giving up four earned runs on three hits with two strikeouts and two walks in one inning.
