FROM STAFF REPORTS
The National Weather Service is predicting a light freeze across Shelby County the night of March 10.
“A strong cold front that pushed through Alabama last night will bring January-like temperatures to central Alabama tonight,” a NWS release read.
Temperatures are expected to fall to around 32 degrees.
The freeze is not expected to kill crops, but the NWS warned any crops that have been recently planted may need to be covered overnight. The crops should be uncovered by 10 a.m. March 11 to prevent the plants from burning.
