Chelsea takes down rival Shelby County

The Chelsea High School baseball team scored three runs in the seventh inning to defeat rival Shelby County 7-3 in high school baseball action March 8.

Joey Mock broke a 3-3 tie with his bases-loaded double in the seventh inning. Tres Gregg followed with a double to score Mock.

Eli Bashour led the Hornets at the plate as he finished 4-for-4 with two doubles. Bashour drove in three runs in the victory.

Justen Moore went 2-for-4 and scored three runs. Gregg finished 1-for-4 and drove in two runs. Mock went 1-for-4 and drove in two runs.

Jake Campbell picked up the win on the mound after giving up only two earned runs on two hits with four strikeouts and two walks in a complete game.

Mike Pate and Trey Howard led Shelby County at the plate as each went 1-for-3.

Evan McNeal started on the mound for the Wildcats, pitching five innings giving up three runs with 10 strikeouts. Bailey Benton finished the game for Shelby Coutny by pitching the last two innings with five strikeouts. Benton gave up four runs in the seventh inning on the Hornets’ three hits, one walk and two errors by the Wildcats.
